Food Thinkers Lunch Club: Food and Entrepreneurship

This term each lunch will have a ‘theme’ and two speakers from across the University’s academic community – staff and graduate students – will speak briefly on their work as it relates to a theme.

20th May, Food and Entrepreneurship

Dr Neil Carrier: Departmental Lecturer in the African Studies Centre, and Anthropology, researches - amongst a range of other things - the role of funghi in East African food systems and local enterprise.

Please note that this event is for Oxford academics and graduate students only.

More about Food Thinkers Lunches:

There are many people working directly or indirectly on food across the University’s staff and student body, and across a vast range of disciplines. We are keen to provide a platform through which we can regularly meet and exchange ideas, as well as get to know each other.

The Food Thinkers Lunch Club, hosted by Linacre College, hopes to provide such a platform - a place for people with like-minded academic interests to gather and eat together in a convivial and relaxed atmosphere.

These lunches are sponsored by the IFSTAL programme (, the Oxford Martin Programme on the Future of Food (, the ECI Food Group ( and Linacre College (
