Food Thinkers Lunch Club: Food systems and scale

This term each lunch will have a ‘theme’ and two speakers from across the University’s academic community – staff and graduate students – will speak briefly on their work as it relates to a theme.

17th June, Food and Scale

Felipe Rao-Clavijo: is researching for a PhD at the Oxford Department for International Development. He explores the cross-scale negotiations between civil society farmers' movements and the government in Colombia in the wake of national agrarian strikes.

Christopher Coghlan: is researching for a PhD at the School of Geography, looking at how we understand and measure food security across scales.

Please note that this event is for Oxford academics and graduate students only.

More about Food Thinkers Lunches:

There are many people working directly or indirectly on food across the University’s staff and student body, and across a vast range of disciplines. We are keen to provide a platform through which we can regularly meet and exchange ideas, as well as get to know each other.

The Food Thinkers Lunch Club, hosted by Linacre College, hopes to provide such a platform - a place for people with like-minded academic interests to gather and eat together in a convivial and relaxed atmosphere.

These lunches are sponsored by the IFSTAL programme (, the Oxford Martin Programme on the Future of Food (, the ECI Food Group ( and Linacre College (
